We bought a [town]house!

Saying we bought a house sounds so much more natural but also feels kind of deceitful so I’m always adding in those brackets like a weirdo. We actually closed in December but I thought I’d start with this post since I’ll include the listing photos so hopefully as big projects get done I can recreate some of these photos. First I want to say the buying process in general is exhausting, we made offers on two other places before this one worked out and while the purchasing once offer was accepted when smoothly it was still just a lot of stress for a while. We’re finally starting to feel more settled and I thought I’d restart this blog so I can go into more depth on these projects instead of bothering everyone on Instagram.

Our dark brown oak cabinets next to cherry laminate floors.

Dining room that’s open to the kitchen

Our very long living room half of which is vaulted with a skylight

Master bedroom which is really large with a walk in closet and small master bathroom

Master bathroom, ’80s tile peeking through on the mirror

Guest bedroom which also has it’s own bathroom and vaulted ceiling + skylight

Guest bathroom

The place is about 1,300 sq. ft. and has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms built in 1986 aka the era of oak. Besides the fact that our other offers fell through (one to an all cash offer- who has that much cash?! and one to a buyer who wouldn’t come down in price to closer to what market value was but those are stories for another post) what sold us on this place was the location and natural light thanks to the skylights and corner windows. Still feels a little surreal having a place that we actually own, well that the bank owns but they trust us to live in while we pay them for the next eternity.

Before we even moved in we decided to paint the trim on the first floor white since there was oak trim plus laminate trim on top of it that just did not look right with the newer floors.

Already makes a difference right? Stay tuned for more coffee & wine fueled DIY.
